IntroductionA club for the bird lovers and bird breeders of Southern Tasmania, the Avicultural Society of Southern Tasmania inc. was first formed in 1971 and members have been actively meeting to exchange information about breeding and caring for birds since that time. It is an aviary bird club for people who keep all species of birds and we now have an extensive library of books and videos that are kept by the club librarian, and brought along to meetings for the members to borrow. Also available to members at the meetings are a range of medications, special foods, books, vitamin and mineral additives, leg rings and other useful things for the Aviary. Meetings are usually held, on the 4th. Tuesday of every month (except December) at the Tasman Regional Library, Bligh St. Rosny at 8 pm. and visitors are welcome to attend. After the formal part of the meeting there is a hot drink and nibbles supplied for those who stay and chat. "Bird Talk" is the monthly magazine printed by the club and mailed to all members, to keep informed those who cannot attend meetings, it has interesting articles and tips, also allows members to buy or sell birds etc. If interested in joining, contact the "Membership Officer" at meetings, or just hit the "Join us" button and print out the membership application form, complete it, and mail in as directed.
